What social media tool do you use the most? (Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Foursquare, Tumblr)
Tony Corsini:I would say that Twitter is my most used social media tool. I view my twitter feed every morning when I wake up to get the latest news on a very wide variety of subjects from snowboarding companies like Burton to marketing analysis companies like HubSpot. My Twitter feed is a lot like the morning newspaper for many other Americans. Twitter also is a great place for me to find key industry and consumer stats in order to excel in my career. With out a doubt Twitter has definatly made information more available to me, resulting in my life running more efficient. Key information is made available to me by selecting the right Twitter accounts to follow that best relate to where my life is and where it is headed. Straight to the point information is highly desired from me due to the hetic lifestyle associated with me and my associated generation cohort (Generation X).
Over the weekend I decided to go visit one of my favorite local craft beer breweries. The Royal Oak Brewery was established in 1995 and is conveniently located at 215 E. Fourth Street, which is right off of Main Street in downtown Royal Oak, Michigan. The other brewery/restaurant that is owned by this same brewery is the The Detroit Beer Co. located in downtown Detroit on Broadway Street. Both of these breweries are great places to go if you’re looking for quality hand crafted Michigan beers while also offering a great tasting menu ranging from a variety of different foods made with the highest quality ingredients. There are some differences between these 2 breweries, but they are generally the same (a full review on The Detroit Beer Co. is coming soon).
As soon I entered the Royal Oak Brewery I noticed how busy it was and the fact that everyone seemed to be in a happy mood and having fun. The atmosphere in this brewery is GREAT! This is a place where you can really feel relaxed and be friendly with everyone. It has a home town vibe to it that is hard to produce from non brewery bars. I find this a great change of atmosphere compared to how other bars like Doc’s Sports Retreat and Bar Louie give off. The decor and layout of the brewery is well kept and gives off a classy look to it, and the food is of the highest quality using the freshest ingredients. Taking a date to this brewery would be a great activity to do with that special someone. I ordered the Angry Polynesian and tried the Snowdrift Winter Ale and the Royal Oak Red craft beers.
Top 4 Menu Items:
1. Hair of the Dog
2. the Angry Polynesian
3. the Hangover
4. Korean Tacos
Located right next to the Royal Oak Brewery is Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle. This creates the great opportunity to make a fun night for anyone. Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle features many big named comedians making appearances as well as new up and coming comedians both local and national. I personally have seen the comedian Dave Attell who hosted the highly successful Comedy Central show called Dave Attells Insomniac twice at the Comedy Castle in Royal Oak and was very pleased with the venue, price, and the whole show. Many of the local comedians that came on before the main act were just as good!!! I would recommend checking out the Mark Ridleys Comedy Castle on any night!
Tony’s Suggestion: A great idea for a date night would be to take that special someone to dinner and drinks at the Royal Oak Brewery then follow it up with a comedy act at the Comedy Castle. This can also be a great idea for you and a group of friends to do.
ESPN’s annual winter extreme sports competition is happening this week (Thursday the 26th- Sunday the 29th of January) Some new elements are being added to this years competition in hopes to increase viewer attendance on television. One of the main changes to this years Winter X Games is that the Slopestyle event will now be taking place at night. Normally this competition is held during the day. What this means is now the slopestyle competition is going to be televised during prime time. Slopestyle is one of the most entertaining events that takes place at the X Games and should be put into the spotlight with the other main events that ESPN and ABC televises. Some drawbacks from moving this event to the night time is that riders will have to deal with more difficult conditions than seen during the day on the course. The night time brings cold weather, creating icy conditions and faster speeds from the athletes. So tune in on Saturday the 28th at 8pm to find out if the decision to move the slopestyle event to night time was a good idea or not.
My name is Tony Corsini and I’m a 24 year old living in Livonia Michigan. I attend the University of Michigan- Dearborn’s College of Business and will be graduating summer 2012 with a B.B.A in Marketing. I enjoy all things involved with marketing, especially advertising and promotional activities. One of my favorite marketing classes I have taken so far at U of M- Dearborn is the current class I am entitled Marketing 463: Digital Analytics & Content Management. This is truly a relevant and revolutionary class for college students. Digital marketing is taking over and shows no signs of stopping. This class helps me and fellow classmates better understand this social media era our world is moving into. Its about time there are updated classes to go with the current times and situations that are current. I think every school should offer this course, so everyone go talk your school about creating a digital marketing program for students to take.
